We take safety very seriously at Stage Effects Hire and Rental. As one of the longest established foam party suppliers in the UK, we have implemented many regulations that safety officers and environmental health agencies enforce all over the country.

As standard at every event, we supply the following:
• A3 information signs placed around the building and entrance
• Slippery floor signs
• Slippery stair signs
• Full onsite risk assessment
• 5 million pound public liability and product liability insurance
• 10 million pound employees liability insurance
• P.A.T. test certificate (tested every 3 months for foam machines)
• De-foaming spray for areas where foam is not required.
We can also offer the following as extra:
• 100sqm of rubber non slip flooring or foam dance pits
• Extra club flood lighting
• Emergency lighting
General Rules at foam parties:
• No Glass to be used in the venue.
• Foam to be kept below Knee height at all times.
• Barriers to be used to keep customers away from the foam machine.
• Signs to be displayed around the venue.
• Adequate Security or stewards to provide crowed safety.
• Water to be given freely to people who have swallowed large amounts of foam.
The Most frequently asked question!
Question: How high will the foam build up?
Answer: Knee high maximum. In the UK most clubs and foam operators are unaware that unlike clubs and venues in Ibiza holding foam parties the maximum build up of foam should not be over Knee height in the UK according to general health and safety guidelines.
WHY? Foam is a natural surfactant and is also used to extinguish fires in cargo ships & chemical plants as it deprives the fire of oxygen. This is why we only use foam cannons as they effectively and evenly distribute foam over a large area and do not let the foam build up in a venue . Foam dumpers generate foam in one area and then build up the foam reaching in some venues over shoulder height. This is very dangerous as there are so many hidden dangers in UK nightclubs including sharp objects and trip hazards and also low level electrical sockets and lighting, which if come into contact with rising foam could cause electric shocks to every person in the foam area. Foam conducts electricity. Also if someone was to fall over on the foam area there is a great risk of that person being buried in the foam, trampled upon & suffocation which is exactly what happened to a customer in Sheffield in the late 1990's who attended a foam party where a large foam dumper was being used. That's why foam parties are now banned in Sheffield. The nightclub and operator were inexperienced and have since closed down. Unfortunately there is no governing body for foam parties in the UK only Health and Safety officers.
As the organiser of a foam party event (Manager, Promoter, Event organiser or Parent organising a Childs party) you are responsible for checking insurance cover is valid for the equipment you have booked. You are responsible for the safety of your customers at all times. If the company you book is not insured nor have appropriate test certificates for their equipment the risk of public liability will fall back to you!
